THE WINERIES OF APPELLATION OREGON

ADEA Wine Company
Dean Fisher fell in love with the Pinot Noir grape in the late eighties. In 1990, Dean produced and planted Pinot Noir for the first time. ADEA, which stands for the Fisher family - Ann, Dean, Erica and Adam, is a boutique winery located in Yamhill County focusing on production of wines of the North Willamette Valley's premium terroir. Blending the fruit from varying soils, elevations, microclimates, and clones is essential to creating wines that express what the Willamette Valley has to offer. A 2,500 case production is limited to Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Gris.

Amity Vineyards
Winemaker Myron Redford, an Oregon Pioneer, has been making wine in Oregon since 1976. His philosophy is that grapes are a fruit and the winemaker's duty is to show the essence of that fruit without the interference of added flavors such as new oak. The winery focuses on Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc, but also makes dry and sweet Riesling, Gewurtztraminer and Gamay Noir. An innovator, Amity has the distinction of releasing Oregon's first sulfite-free Pinot Noir in 1990.

Belle Vallée
Belle Vallée Cellars is located in the heart of Oregon's Willamette Valley and uses only the finest grapes from small, local vineyards. Belle Vallée is primarily a Pinot Noir house. They believe Pinot Noir is the best grape, locally available, for producing a delicious and complex wine experience.

Bishop Creek Cellars
Bishop Creek Cellars vineyard is located 2 miles north of Yamhill, Oregon, in the north Willamette Valley. After selling its fruit to other wineries for many years, Bishop Creek began to produce and sell Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris, made from its own grapes, in 1999. In 2000, the winery was honored to be chosen as a featured winery at the International Pinot Noir Celebration.

Carter Vineyard
The Carters bought land in the Eola Hills west of Salem in 1979. In 1980, they experimented with every variety of grape they could obtain, soon finding that Carter Vineyard is the perfect place to grow Pinot Noir. They began selling grapes to Ken Wright, at Panther Creek at the time, and to Domaine Serene. Now, with the 2002 vintage, and using the winemaking skills of Ken Wright, Carter Vineyard has introduced their own first vintage to the wine world.

Chateau Bianca Winery
Chateau Bianca Winery is a family operation, which began in the mid-1980's. Chateau Bianca is committed to creating wines of the highest quality, and features an impressive array of wines made from several different varieties in several different styles, from still wine, to sparkling, to port and even ice wine.

David Hill Vineyards & Winery
The first grapes of the David Hill Vineyards, in Forest Grove, were planted in 1883. Most of these were ripped out during Prohibition in 1913. In 1965, Pinot Noir was planted by Charles Coury, one of the first of many later vintners to make the move from California to Oregon. When Milan and Jean Stoyanov bought the land in 1992, the grapes were already quite old. The David Hill Winery, (named for the man who oversaw the first territorial government of Oregon), offers a myriad of fine wines including Pinot Noir, Sparkling Brut, Muscat Port, and many others, all carefully crafted by winemaker Pascal Valadier.

Erath Vineyards
Winery Dick Erath, a graduate of UC Davis and a fugitive from the hi-tech industry, moved to Oregon in 1967. He was one of the first to recognize Oregon's potential for wine. In 1972, the Erath Winery was founded with just a few barrels of Pinot Noir and Riesling. Now 70% of the grapes for Erath wines come from their Prince Hill Vineyard, which covers 115 acres and is within a few miles of the winery. The rest of the grapes come from other vineyards in the Willamette and Umpqua Valleys. Winemaker Gary Horner and Erath produce 35,000 cases of wine a year, two thirds of which are Pinot Noir.

Eyrie Vineyards
Long celebrated as the leading pioneer in the Oregon wine revolution, David Lett and Eyrie Vineyards have been producing phenomenal Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay for over 30 years. The Eyrie Vineyard's wines are considered benchmarks for Oregon, and have been key in gaining respect for the region in the worldwide wine market.

Iris Hill Winery
Iris Hill is nestled in the Lorane Valley, near Eugene. It specializes in producing small quantities of quality, handcrafted Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay. The wines are made from grapes grown at Chalice Vineyard, on the family estate of Richard and Pamela Boyles. The estate currently has 28 acres of Pinot Noir, 12 acres of Pinot Gris and 4 acres of Chardonnay.

Panther Creek Cellars
Panther Creek has consistently been recognized for their handcrafted, single vineyard Pinot Noirs. The winery focuses on minimizing the amount of intervention during the winemaking process, allowing each vineyard's unique terroir to shine through. Panther Creek Pinot Noirs beautifully reflect what can be achieved when you combine high-quality Oregon fruit, outstanding vineyard sites, and an intense dedication to quality.

R. Stuart & Co.
In a converted grainery near downtown McMinnville, Oregon, Rob Stuart creates wines that are fresh, lively and true to the fruit that each vineyard offers. After working 21 vintages for wineries up and down the west coast, Rob has gained acclaim for his delicately structured first release under the R. Stuart & Co. label - the 2001 Pinot Noir.

Viento Wines
Beginning with the 1999 vintage, Rich Cushman and his family have worked together in McMinnville, Oregon to produce a portfolio of extraordinary wines. Rich sources his fruit from his own vineyard in Hood River and also from several great vineyards in the Columbia Valley that grow varieties beyond the ordinary, including Viognier, Syrah, Sangiovese, Grenach and Riesling.

Walnut City Wineworks
The winery is located in a reconstructed walnut processing facility near McMinnville's historic downtown. A community of vintners, including Walnut City itself, showcase their wines there. Walnut City Wineworks released it's first vintage in 2000 and they now produce Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and a variety of other wines.

Willamette Valley Vineyards
Willamette Valley Vineyards was founded in 1983 by winegrower and native Oregonian, Jim Bernau, on the south slope of a volcanic flow in the heart of the Willamette Valley. The winery's mission is to create the highest quality Pinot Noirs possible while serving as a good steward of the land. Winemaker, Forrest Klaffke, believes the key to great wine is the plant nutrition and attention to every detail in the vineyard.
