FIRST THURSDAY

ARTIST’S RECEPTION
JUNE 5, 2008

5:30-8:30 PM
Featuring Pam Flanders

Mix oil colors, brushes, and canvas and you have the perfect ingredients for local artist Pam Flanders. Pam has a passion for painting the landscape. Chances are you have already met her painting on location at one of your favorite scenic destinations.

In 1998, Pam set aside her first career to follow her dream of becoming a full-time painter. She and her husband moved to Portland in 2001, and Pam has been exploring the Northwest one painting at a time.

Have you ever come upon a scene that affects you so strongly you want to savor it forever? This essence is what Pam captures in her paintings. She finds excitement in mixing colors to portray this experience. She feels it is this connection between artist and subject that is essential to give life to her work. The interplay of light falling on the scene or subject sets the mood and ignites the process for a successful outcome. Viewers who relate to this quality of work want to enjoy it for years to come.

Featured Music: Eric Skye and Brian Casey
Critically acclaimed acoustic jazz guitarist Eric Skye and noted standup bassist Brian Casey have formed an exciting new duo which features the music of Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, and John Coltrane, along with the variety of bossa nova and samba numbers.
