SPIRITED URBAN WALKING TOUR

Portland's Spirited Urban Walking Tour takes you to the heart of the NW neighborhood filled with specialty shops, upscale restaurants and neighborhood bars. With streets arranged alphabetically and numerically, NW Portland is extremely pedestrian friendly. If you do happen to lose your way, just ask a passerby for directions, as Portland locals are renowned for being polite.

The Spirited Urban Walking Tour begins at Urban Wineworks (UWW) located on the corner of 16th and NW Flanders. The hands-on winery incorporates a wine cellar feel with a funky industrial urban space. Wine barrels stacked from floor to ceiling are handpainted by local Portland artists.

At UWW, expert in-house staff help you blend your own wine or sample individual flights of house wine and local boutique producers. After enjoying a taste of full-bodied Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah you are able to create your very own cuvee.

After the UWW blending program, continue the tour by walking west on Flanders to 18th Street and turning north (right). At the intersection of Lovejoy turn right and continue walking east. If you are taking the Portland Streetcar, the stop is at the corner of 18th and Lovejoy. Fares can be purchased on the Streetcar which are valid for two hours.

The BridgePort Brewing Company is located on 13th and Marshall. Follow your nose and the invigorating scent of yeast and brewing beer that leads you across Lovejoy on 13th, through the rail yard and to the entrance of the brewery.

At BridgePort Brewing Company you will be introduced to where the revolution in microbreweries began and learn about a variety of classic northwest style ales that are naturally conditioned in the bottle, keg or cask from which they are served.

BridgePort Brewery Company is conveniently located between the east and west running lines of the Streetcar. From the brewery entrance, continue north to Northrup, here you can meet the Streetcar at the intersection of Northrup and 14th or keep walking to NW 23rd.

At NW 23rd turn right heading north, Clear Creek Distillery is located on the corner of NW 23rd and Quimby, and is world renown for its eau-de-vie distilled exclusively from Oregon fruit. Clear Creek offers a great education in the craft of distilling fruit brandies, barrel-aged single malt whiskies and grappas.

Now that you have enlivened your palate to the distinguished wine, beer and spirits producers of Portland, return to downtown by catching the Streetcar again at the NW 23rd Avenue stop, which will take you to several destinations within the city.
