Operating Principles

Bishop Creek Cellars / Urban Wineworks / Appellation Oregon
1. We are a winery (a winegrower and producer).  We want to make the highest quality wine, especially Pinot Noir, and sell it directly to our customers for a fair price.
2. Bishop Creek Cellars is our premium wine brand.  Urban Wineworks (UWW), Appellation Oregon (AO) and Bishop Creek Cellars – Newberg are the places (tasting rooms) where we sell our wines to customers.  Our tasting rooms are located close to our desired customers.
3. We have other wines, activities, classes and events at our places of business (UWW, AO and Newberg) in order to help educate our customers about the mysteries and wonders of wine, and to introduce our products to customers.  A better educated customer better appreciates the value and quality of our products.
4. Our dedication to quality starts in our vineyard, where our vineyard manager, Jeremy Saville, pays close attention to appropriate crop loads, viticultural techniques, grape quality, and vineyard sustainability (LIVE – Low Input Viticulture and Enology).  He also assists in the winery.
5. As a small winery, we actually produce the majority of our wines at boutique wine-making facilities owned by others.  Currently our winemaker, Marcus Goodfellow, makes our wine at ADEA Wine Company near Gaston , Oregon .  ADEA is the closest winery to our vineyard and that helps reduce the transportation stress on our fruit.  We make small amounts of Pinot Noir and dessert wine at UWW.
6.

We don’t want to take ourselves, or our quest, too seriously.  Wine should be fun.
